Frequently asked questions about contacting us
How long does it take to get a response after contacting Dr. Mantonya?
Most inquiries receive a response within 1-2 business days. Urgent matters with imminent hearing dates or filing deadlines should be flagged in the message; those are prioritized. The contact form delivers directly to contact@drmantonya.com (a Google Workspace alias backed by a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement).
What information should I include when I contact Dr. Mantonya?
Include the case type (asylum, VAWA, U-visa, T-visa, hardship waiver, cancellation, N-648, or competency), any filing or hearing deadline, and a brief summary of the situation. If you are an attorney, include your firm name. If email or phone is not a safe way to reach you, say what is. If you are an applicant contacting directly, include whether you have legal representation. Do not include sensitive personal medical information in the initial message, that comes later in the secure intake process.
Can you provide an evaluation if I do not have an immigration attorney?
Yes. Many of the people we evaluate are representing themselves. We provide the psychological evaluation and the written report on the mental health impact of what you experienced. You submit that report with your petition; it does not require you to have a lawyer. We are not attorneys, so we do not give legal advice or help complete your immigration forms. If you would like, we can point you to low-cost immigration legal aid organizations in California.
Is the contact form HIPAA compliant?
The contact form is intended for general inquiries and does not request protected health information (PHI). Submissions are routed through Resend (transactional email API) and delivered to a HIPAA-covered Google Workspace inbox (contact@drmantonya.com). Once an evaluation is scheduled, all later communication moves to fully HIPAA-covered channels (secure portal, encrypted email, BAA-covered telehealth platform).
Can I call Dr. Mantonya directly to schedule an evaluation?
Yes, you can call (818) 351-3354 to get started. Calls go through iPlum Professional, a HIPAA-compliant phone service with a Business Associate Agreement and a phone tree (press 1 for new client inquiries, 2 for existing clients, 3 for attorney referrals). If no one can pick up, leave a voicemail; it is monitored and returned within one business day. Whether you start by phone or through the form, the steps are the same: Dr. Mantonya reviews your situation personally, and if the case is a fit you receive a private intake link, then the booking link after the intake review.
Are evaluations available in languages other than English?
Yes. Dr. Mantonya conducts evaluations in English. For Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Russian, Arabic, French, Portuguese, and most other languages, a professional medical interpreter joins the session. Intake and consent documents can be provided in other languages on request.
Do you accept clients outside California?
No. California is not a participating state in the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT), which means a California-licensed psychologist cannot legally provide telehealth psychological evaluations to residents of other states. If you are physically located in California at the time of the evaluation, you are eligible regardless of immigration status. If you are out of state, please contact a psychologist licensed in your state of residence.
What happens after I send my inquiry?
Dr. Mantonya personally reviews every inquiry and replies within 1-2 business days. If the case is a fit, her reply includes a private intake link with a few short screening questions. After she reviews your intake, you receive the private booking link: you pick a time, sign the engagement letter, and pay the flat fee for your case type in one sitting. The remaining paperwork arrives after booking, before your session, and the evaluation itself happens over secure telehealth. The report is delivered 5-7 business days after the evaluation interview, or 3 days with priority rush and 24 hours with emergency rush. Revisions, RFE responses, and addendums are provided at no additional charge.
