What This Involves

Dr. Mantonya conducts fitness-for-duty, pre-employment, and return-to-work psychological evaluations for law enforcement and correctional agencies. Each evaluation is tailored to the referral question and the specific demands of the position, drawing on validated psychological instruments, structured clinical interviews, and a thorough review of background and employment records.

These assessments go beyond standard clinical evaluations. They require an understanding of the occupational demands, stressors, and risk factors unique to public safety roles. Dr. Mantonya's years within CDCR give her direct knowledge of what these positions actually entail — knowledge that strengthens every evaluation she produces.

Correctional Advantage

Fitness-for-duty and return-to-work evaluations in correctional settings require more than clinical expertise — they require an understanding of the operational environment. Dr. Mantonya's nine years within CDCR means she knows what correctional officers face daily: the use-of-force incidents, the inmate mental health crises, the code responses, and the chronic hypervigilance that defines the job.

Why This Matters

When a correctional officer has been involved in a use-of-force incident and needs fitness-for-duty clearance, the evaluator must understand both the psychological impact AND the job requirements. Dr. Mantonya's CDCR experience means she understands what “fit for duty” actually means in a correctional environment.
